How do you find the right factory to make your product? What about costs and outlay? How do you protect your idea and design?

We’ve created a playlist, simply called Taking Your Product to Market and it’s just five episodes.

The first episode looks at importing. What do you need to know about safety requirements and shipping.? Do you know about haulage and import restrictions?

Next we simply examine what NOT to do. There are many common mistakes designers can make when they’re starting out. They can misjudge how much it will cost, fail to do the right market research or sourcing the right supplier. With our easy guide we identify the common mishaps so you can avoid them.

The third episode looks at IP and trademarking. If you’ve got a product have you considered your intellectual property rights? Some designers have patent applications, some don’t. Any mistakes on the application for a patent can affect your rights and control. We guide you through with advice on what you need to include and what everything means.

Next we look at the biggest platform in the world for those looking for a manufacturer; Alibaba. It can be a baffling marketplace but we can take you through it step by step. What are the pitfalls, what’s it useful for, what do you need to know before you go in?

The last episode is all about design. How do you take your product from concept to manufacture. How does a product get from drawing board to point of sale and what role does design play in that journey? These are the disciplines we offer at Sorcit and we talk to you about 2D and 3D design and their role in product design.
